Creating Common Ground: A Two-Eyed Seeing Approach to Indigenous Community Economic Development
Kūwiingu-Néewul Engagement Services, a respected and proven partner with First Nations, has created a unique offering to boost Economic Development in First Nations. A 2-Step process and two year program, for both rural communities and Indigenous Nations face unique challenges: economic diversification, workforce retention, and reconciliation.
KES has developed this offer for communities and municipalities, to support the opportunity of collaborating in a different way that brings new capacity, innovation, and mutual benefit.
KES proudly bridges gaps, helping both groups achieve shared, sustainable growth. We guide our partners through a well thought out methodology that allows for co-creation by the principals and support from KES.
Below is a snapshot of how the first of the 2 steps in our program works.
How to bring your community plan to life
KES goal is to deliver program that supports a lasting impact to communities. By offering clear structures in business incubation and mentorship to drive and measure economic progress for the community in our 2-Step process and two year program uniquely designed around a Two Eyed Seeing methodology. Both Steps of the program have the potential to have the full investment taken on by the Ontario and the federal government. KES’ role is to guide First Nation communities in Ontario from strategy to success.
We work with the community to ensure that we are integrating Indigenous knowledge and municipal systems equally, using our Two-Eyed Seeing Approach through each of the critical delivery elements allowing for best chance of sustained success.
The program revolves a First Nation working closely with partners in your community (rural municipality, town, etc) to produce outcomes that potentially include impressive returns in terms of job and company creation, new streams of revenue as well as direct and indirect economic and social benefits for all partners.
Besides being at the center of administering and delivering this program with First Nations, KES will look after the full application, with direction and final approval from our First Nation partner in efforts to support any barriers that may occur.
